The Department of Occupational Hygiene and Health is an essential part of the first-level discipline of public health and preventive medicine in the School of Public Health at Zhejiang Chinese Medical University. The department currently hosts one Ph.D. advisor and two advisors for postgraduates in the school. All faculty members at the department have doctoral degrees. The department has entered a stage of rapid and high-quality development, and we warmly welcome highly qualified professionals and talented young scholars to join the department and build a successful and productive department together.
China and the world face innumerable challenges in the areas of environmental and occupational health, as well as public and worker’s health. At the Department, we are committed to educate and cultivate the next generation of public health professionals, particularly the leaders in the field of occupational health, who conform to the national and social development in this new era. Through innovative research theoretically and practically, we strive to improve the health and safety of the general public and our workers and build a healthy environment with the participation of the whole society.
The Department of Occupational Hygiene and Health offers a few courses for undergraduate and graduate students, including Occupational Health, Occupational health hazards and safety, Environmental epigenetics, and other related courses. Based on the "Precision Environment and Health Research Laboratory" of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, researchers in the department are engaged in research on health risk evaluation, molecular mechanism investigation, and the developments of innovative therapeutic and preventive measures for environmental and occupational hazards. Specifically, our research focus on elucidating the relationship between epigenetic dysregulation and microbiota disruption in the development of heavy metal toxicity, developing novel metal chelators with an improved safety and efficiency, determining the interplay between neurotoxic exposure and genetic factors in the risk of neurodevelopmental toxicity and neurodegenerative diseases, and exploring health impacts and molecular mechanisms from environmental microplastics exposure.
